DAL KHICHADI AND SOME BLOGGING

If we have eaten junk during the weekend, Monday evening menu Dal khichadi

If we want to eat something light after a bad stomach we decide on Dal khichadi

If we want comfort food, yes we eat Dal khichadi

What did our grand- mom’s cook most of the nights, yes Dal khichadi

If husband is home after a long travelling spree, then he will ask me to make, the guess is right – Dal khichadi!

If there is left over of dal or rice easy option to cook is Dal Khichadi

And if you want to loose some weight the healthier way then Dal Khichadi is a good choice.

So here is a recipe of easy Dal Khichadi I cooked the other day..

Recipe for Dal Khichadi

(Serves 2)

Ingredients:

1 cup cooked tuvar dal

2 cups cooked rice

1 onion finely chopped

1/2 tomato finely chopped

2 green chilies finely chopped

3-4 cloves of garlic finely chopped

2 tsp jeera

1 tsp hing

1 tsp haldi

1-2 tsp red chilie powder

1 tsp garam masala

1 tbsp ghee

Salt to taste

Method:

Heat the ghee in pan.

Add jeera and hing, once the jeera splutters

add the green chilies, garlic, onions.

Once the onions are translucent add the tomatoes. Let it cook for 2 minutes.

Add the red chilli powder, turmeric and garam masala.

Cook for few seconds

Add the rice and dal and about 1 cup of water.

Season with salt

You can add more water but check the consistency according to the picture above.

Cook for 5-7 minutes

Serve hot with dahi
