Its Monday..its so difficult to get up.. daam it! specially when its winter.

Early morning I got up to get water, I look at the wall clock it was 6.10 I told myself, “thats ok still have an hour to sleep”so I rush back to take a small nap. I check my phone its 2.22 a.m. WHAT? I check husband’s phone same time, ok now i get it, without my contact lens and due to low light I read the wrong time…woow! Lottery laag gayee! bonus hours to sleep, with a smile on my face I tuck myself to sleep..

Finally its morning..rush hour starts…

Monday mornings is always rush, Son wants to sleep extra few minutes plus he is not in much mood to go to school so he tries all his tricks to stall going to school

“Mumma please can I hug 5 more minutes.” Very smart.. what can to say to this..

“mumma I want to drink more milk”

After brush is done, “mumma can you please give me the tongue cleaner I don’t think it is properly done.”

“Oh not this underwear, I want to wear the blue one..not this blue one , the blue one with the car on it..”phew!!

“Mumma please can I apply cream on my fish cause its skin is also going dry, then I will go to school.”

“No papa not the lift, kabir ne toh stairs.”

On the way to school I have no idea, its the father’s problem…

Basically Monday morning are mixed feelings. Your body is lazy as ever but your mind wants to start the week, the routine. Its just over doze of your children and husband, atleast for me cause week days are the only days where I manage  to snatch Me time!

The walk to the gym was a very dragging slow one..

while I was doing cardio I listened to this very slow pace song…”The sounds of silence” over and over again. A young very young Dustin Hoffman ( well young or old) for sure to cheer you up one a Monday

I wish even I had a travellator  to take me to the gym..

Another monday problem is that I always have a list of groceries to buy so lot of extra running around.

And since I have eaten whatever during the weekend, Mondays are always healthy diet food and so I made this mixed dal..

Recipe courtesy:

One of the hotel highway on one of the highways..ha ha

We stopped to have lunch, all the vegetables were stale, food was stale, I dared not speak as everyone was relishing and  no one realised so I just eat dal and roti..

The dal has dried methi leaves and thats what made it different

Serves 2

1 cup cooked mixed dal

1 onion finely chopped

1 tomato finely chopped

1 tbsp ginger garlic pasts

1 tbsp dried fenugreek leaves

1-2 green chilies chopped

2 cloves

1/2 inch cinnamon stick

1 tsp mustard seeds

1 tsp jeera seeds

1 bay leaf

2 tsp red chili powder

1 tsp turmeric powder

1 whole red chilie

1/2 lemon juice

Coriander leaves

2 tsp oil

Salt to taste

Heat the oil in a non stick pot ( hye this is a diet dal cant make it without non stick)

Add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds. Once they splutter add cloves, cinnamon, bay leaves, let it cook for 20-30 seconds. Add the onions and ginger garlic paste. Cook till the onions are translucent, now the tomatoes. Cook till all the water of the tomatoes evaporates. Add the red chili powder.

After 30 seconds, add the dal, turmeric powder, frrengreek leaves, salt, lemon, coriander leaves and cook for 7 – 10 minutes. Take it from the heat and serve hot.

Diet karo toh saan se..

My rules is, it can be low fat but it has to be tasty, pleasant to the taste buds or else  there will not be consistency to your diet.

This dal is very tasty and high on protein..
