A DAY WHEN I DID NOT CHANGE NAPPIES

From the last one year my day starts with changing nappies, feeding, burping and many more odd jobs like any other mom. No complains but all this has become a routine, I do not decide when to get up nor does my alarm but my little one decides when it’s morning 🙂

My husband pushed me to plan this one day trip to go to Mumbai and catch up with my friend. He had a day off at his factory thus he insisted I should go and chill a bit. Finally I planned a day trip to Mumbai city. With an army of babysitters taking caring of my baby I wasn’t worried, my husband, mom, dad and my sister….lucky baby!! and lucky me!!

Left around 6 in the morning, baby was colic all night, he had finally slept off around 4.30 a.m. With swollen sleep deprived eyes for minute I just felt not going and sleeping but on the other hand I was looking forward for this day away from routine and meeting my friend.

After security check at the airport around 6.30 got a missed call from mom, when I  talked to her she asked  me ” he is already up what should I feed him?” I was wondering poor mom he is up earlier on the other hand I was like he is in one of the best hands plus I can’t do anything let’s just eat and chill…

the whole 50 minutes flight I slept, I went into such deep sleep that I was dreaming and when I got up I almost forgot I was in the plane, I slept so carefree…

Once I landed talked to hubby he had reached mom’s place …I was so glad cause mom can take some time off…then I tried to give him some tips for putting him for a nap, hubby asked me, ” u want to come back and do it? Let us manage if there is something we will call, you take it easy and enjoy your time off.” Ok so now I decided not to call them…

On my way to my friend’s place was the typical morning rush hour Mumbai traffic….

Mumbai, they call it the Mahanagri, I find Mumbai has such contrasting lifestyles, there are these huge skyscrapers with the richest  people living in them and just next to those are these “Bastis”(huts) …

I always laugh I get to see the oddest of the things on my travels …

my friend had to give her residence verification at a local police station so we went there, I told her to finish her job inside and I would wait in the cab. Sitting in the cab I thought of taking out my camera and take pictures of a tea stall outside but my wise brain told me it’s not a good idea to take pictures outside a police station…good call…

As I was waiting in the cab I saw a rickshaw driver chasing a man, blood was dripping from the man’s hands, the driver had a knife or some something …it was a scene right out a B grade Bollywood movie…the driver was shouting ” aayee….give me my money.” The man with blood dripping told him ” wait giving it,  yes of course I am giving you” and he was running towards the police station…the driver told him ” I shall come behind u right in the police station” but the man escaped into the police station. This rickshaw wala waited for a few seconds and then left…after a while another man came running to the station with cuts on his arms and blood dripping..our cab drivers panicked and asked me, ” did u see that?, that man doesn’t seem right, he looks like a goon” In seconds all the police came out with both the wounded men there was so much hustle , then one of the cops took the men in another rickshaw looking for the driver who wounded both of them.. I have never seen something like this …I wonder only I come across such things…after a year I step out alone and I get to see this ….what coincidence…a story to tell…that’s what travels are for. First time I was glad I did not take out my camera, I would have got into trouble…

Flight got delayed by an hour, reached home by 10.00 p.m. Eventful day, reached home to a sleeping baby, was so thankful to all my wonderful babysitters…
