MOM COME SOON, MISSING YOUR FOOD AND YOU AS WELL

I think we value our parents more only after we ourselves become parents..this is my case specially for my mother. Till I became a mother I never valued her in raising us, I use to think everyone does it, what is the big deal? it’s now that I realize its easy to have children but to raise them in the right manner is a whole different story, it take sacrifices, patience, a sense of direction and lots and lots of love…

I also think once you are parents yourself, you tend to forgive and let go of the little things you held against your parents for not doing something for you. I remember the foodie that I always was, during exam nights mom would make dinner that we liked. On one particular exam night mom said she would  make pizzas, now I realise she is a person and not a computer…for some reason she forgot. After I finished my studies and came to the dinner table saw bhakhri (Guju Roti) and some sabji, I threw a tantrum and cried, ” I am so tired I have been studying all day and you promised to make pizzas, you promised sob sob” my poor mom told me how she forgot but I just could not forgive her for that. I asked her, “how could u forget?? ” I guess I was thinking my mom was a restaurant chef who had nothing else to do in her life who ought to make what I ordered.  Now I understand, she being a mom of two, one can forget sometimes its human…this and many other things for which I use to judge my parents too soon, now I realise parenting is the toughest, thankless, 24/7 job…you tend to make mistakes in the path as no one has any experience in this department till they themselves have children. Its only when you have your own children you realise,  it’s always the big picture that matters, it’s the years of love and understanding that matters, its only those memories that matter…

Mom never did anything for herself when we were children, she is extremely talented in arts, crafts, gardening, cooking, in clothes and jewelry designing but she never made any of these things her professions she used all these talents only for her two girls, when someone asked her what her profession was she would proudly say,” I am raising two girls, that’s my job” 🙂

Right now mom is in the USA for her best friend’s son’s wedding, traveling and also shopping for us as we never let her travel without our list. I miss her food cause it’s made with so much love and precision plus I can take a break when she is cooking 😉
