One day, in school when I came home I found a National Geography magazine on the table. It was the issue which had the famous Afgan Girl shoot by Steve Mccurry. I just could not take my eyes off it. I remember that night I kept on thinking about that Afgan Girl. I kept on thinking where she lived ? Was she sad in the picture? Sometimes the image looked scarry to me. Sometimes intense… It just did not get over my head. Next day in class I kept on thinking about the photograph. I did not listen to a word my teacher was saying. Steve Mccurry was someone who influenced me while growing up. For me, the Afgan Girl is the Monalisa in photography !
When I started studying photography, I started following Steve Mccurry’s work. His images where mesmerising to me…
For days with my photography teacher, I kept studying his potraits and decided to click potraits on the next out door shoot in the old city.
My images are no where near Steve Mccurry’s images but that day I was inspired by his work…
