MOM’S HOMEMADE PIZZAS FOR LUNCH

This 5th of June was my birthday so mom cooked pizzas for lunch…yumm…!!

Usually on my birthday we travel but from the last two birthdays I have been home and both the birthdays I have had moms pizza. Last birthday I was 2 months pregnant and the doctor had adviced me strict bed rest. Due to that I had shifted to my parents place. Last birthday my outing was to the sonography doctor and later during the day for lunch and dinner I asked mom to make her awesome pizzas…I remember having a pizza party in bed. During my whole pregnancy I wasn’t allowed to eat food from outside as the doctor did not want to take any risk, so every now and then mom would make her signature pizzas. My baby had eaten lots of her pizzas in my stomach…well may be that’s why when he was so healthy at birth.

Thus this birthday to continue the tradition I went to her place to have her pizzas….it was a fun lunch..my baby was playing, rolling and making all funny noises..me, my sister and mom we’re eating pizzas…

She makes the pizza base all wheat with lots of mixed Italians herbs and chilli flakes in them. For the toppings she put red yellow green capsicums chopped into small pieces, green onions and black olives. Green onions  are a bit Indian but I love them on the pizza.

Below I am also writing moms pizza gravy’s recipe.

INGREDIENTS:

10-12 ripe boiled and peeled tomatoes

1 onion purée

7-8 cloves of garlic purée

2 tsp of oregano

2 to 3 tbsp dried Italian herbs

1 tbsp chilli flakes

1 tbsp red chilli powder

2 tbsp olive oil

2 tsp sugar

salt to taste

METHOD:

Purée the tomatoes, pass them a through a sieve and keep it on the side.

In pan heat the oil, add the onion garlic paste, dried oregano, cook for 30 seconds, add the tomato purée, dried herbs, chilli flakes, red chilli powder, sugar and salt. Cook for about 10 minutes or till all the gravy is thick enough to spread on the pizza base. Cool it before spreading.
